Big insect : small insect [Aug. 17th, 2008|05:28 pm]
The place to be for animal - maniacs

I got six new leaf insects from a friend yesterday that I now keep with my two remaining "old ladies". :-)
I just had to take a couple of pics to me because the difference in size just amazed me....

So, here´s one of the adult females on the left and four "young ones" on the right.

This is a close up of the smallest male I currently have:

On the picture above you can see him on the lowest position of the "young ones".

Nice. Do you feed them a specific leaf?

They usually get bramble leaves. It´s the common food for phasmids over here because most kinds eat it without problems and you can bramble leaves all over the year.

Yep.. six at the same time! :-)
It´s amazing but I really find certain behaviour (well.. or certain difficulties in haldling)on them again that I´d almost forgotten. It´s like puppies! *haha

They definitely are interesting creatures. I don´t really like to call them "pets".. but I don´t really know a better word myself! :-)
